This is a quick recipe in case you want to eat something sweet but not with too many calories. Or when you have guests who came unannounced. 🙂 In one of the next recipes I’ll show you how to make “real” apple crumble, but this time I am making a quick and shortened version with almost identical flavor.
Ingredients (for three persons):
- 2 big apples (I used Granny Smith)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar (you can use ordinary white if you don’t care about calories)
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 hard cookies (e.g. tea biscuits, plazma or some without filling)
- walnuts / hazelnuts / almonds
- vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
Cut the apples into dices and put them on butter, add sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Soften them at medium temperature for about ten minutes:

Grind apart cookies and nuts, but do not turn them into dust, I left a bit bigger pieces to feel the texture. In dessert (or regular high) glasses, the first layer are the biscuits, then apple dices, walnuts, and then re-layer biscuits, apples, walnuts and so until you reach the top. The top should be nuts and the last layer is ice cream or if you don’t have ice cream, put whipped cream. Isn’t it easy and fast? 🙂
