When you want to make something healthy and “on a spoon” (a saying in Bosnia for cooked meal) after you come from work and don’t want to spend more than an hour in the kitchen, cooked peas is a simple, but a very tasty choice. This time I used chicken breast, although it is more usual (at least in Bosnia) that almost all cooked meals are made with some kind of red meat. But, since we don’t want to wait for three hours for the meat to become tender, chicken is a clever choice. Also, if you don’t like peas with any kind of meat, it is quite tasty and without it.
Ingredients:
• 500 g of frozen or fresh peas
• 1 red onion
• 2 carrots
• 200 g of chicken meat/breast
• 1 large potato
• 1 tablespoon ajvar or tomato sauce
• spices: dried vegetables (vegeta), salt, pepper and dried dill
• 1 tablespoon butter and 2 teaspoons olive oil
• water
First of all, cut the onions and carrots into cubes and fry briefly on butter and oil until they become glassy, then add the meat cut into cubes:

After the meat starts getting white colour, add potatoes and a spoonful of ajvar, all at lower temperature:

When you put all this together and cook for about five minutes, add peas and spices (except dill, it goes in at the end of cooking), and reduce to the lowest temperature, cover and let it cook slow for about 20 minutes, until all the liquid evaporates, after that you add hot water, enough to cover all the ingredients.

Leave it cook for another 45 minutes, and if necessary, add more water, depending on how you like it.

A tip: Do not practice freezing dishes that contain potatoes, chicken or carrots, since such food should not be heated because it becomes toxic to our organism by reheating.
